A Good Cause…
Posted in Uncategorized on 02/11/2010 02:49 pm by quietangelI think by now you can tell I like to help. I like to support good causes and people who are trying hard to make a difference. My opinion is we all live in this world together and whether it be fighting to find a cure for cancer, fighting for the rain forest, or fighting to have communities, their elderly, their young, and their young adults work together with RESPECT, we are all fighting for something good and something to help others. In the end, I believe, and I hope that this will eventually help us all.
You know that I am fighting for cancer. I, like so many others, would like to find a cure. But in the meantime during this fight, I am working on helping those in the midst of the battle have a little break. A break to lift their spirits and hopefully help them to laugh. Laughter helped me and I hope it will help others. After all that is why I wrote this book to help others with what I thought I needed most. From my experience and my journey; in my opinion laughter really is the best medicine. And hopefully my goal to help others will continue to spread.
You know I support BIG PINK HEART. BPH is an organization in the UK that works hard to bring RESPECT back to communities. They work hard to help the younger generation and all generations to see just how important Acts of Random Kindness really are, and how could you not support that! As a matter of fact, I support it so much that I have filed the papers here in the US to have a second branch of BIG PINK HEART in the US, in a joint effort with the UK to bring our communities, our children, and our world back into a place of RESPECT and KINDNESS. This was all started by an amazing woman, Sharon Clephane. Truly wonderful and I am proud to be a part of it!
So now I have one more cause and I think it is a good one. As most of you know I have paddled for about eight years, mostly Dragon Boats and some Outrigger. Both are amazing, great exercise and on the beautiful ocean! I have had tremendous experiences that I might have not had or gotten the chance without this sport and my team. I raced in China, Canada, Taiwan and several places in the US. Again, what more could you ask for? It is wonderful for cancer survivors; great exercise, has been proven not to cause Lymphodema, wonderful comarderie and a support group on the water and in the fresth air. Really get out and try it and if you don’t know where a team is near you, just look at my links. You will find one!!
So here is my cause. A great paddler, truly wonderful individual who runs the Outrigger Organization for Southern California and who is the coach for Team Survivor (Women Cancer Survivors) Dragon Boat Team in San Diego, California, has a wonderful new cause. Cheance Adair has been paddling for 18 years and wants to help Disabled Vets paddle outrigger. She has a wonderful plan and has taken her idea one step further and has entered into the Pepsi “Refresh Everything” Challenge. In this challenge, you submit your idea and the public gets to vote for which one they think deserves Pepsi’s support. Pepsi gives away 50K to the top idea voted by the public. Cheance’s idea is now at 36 place and has only a few days to get to the top. She only has til February 28th.
So here is how I see it. Cheance is a great gal, a great paddler and is currently helping cancer survivors paddle and race Dragon Boats, using her own time and energy. She has been a tremendous help to me and has spread the word of the book and video like wild fire and NOW she wants to help veterans! Wow…you go Gal!
I for one, have always, and will always support our troops. My dad was a World War II Vet and I could not be prouder of him or those who fight to defend our countries, no matter what country we live in! They fight for us and do it without hesitation. So it is time we do something for them.
So come on, it only takes a second and with that second YOU will be helping others in a tremendous way…DO IT and be PROUD!!
STAND UP, STAND TOGETHER…AND GIVE EACH OTHER A HELPING HAND!
