Meet Peggy the Cheerleader…..

If you are reading my post, most likely you have taken a look at my website, book and my video, if this is the case then you have probably “seen” Peggy.  But I really want you to meet her and the purpose I put behind her.

Peggy is a Cheerleader Doll.  But she is way more then that she is special, and she is someone or something we all need.  My mom is my biggest cheerleader no matter what, my Mom cheers me on.  I have been one of the lucky ones, she has stood by me, strong, silent (not always), but as long as I am on the up and up, she is right with me.  In other words, my Mom has never asked any of us kids to be any one thing; a doctor, a nurse, nothing of her choosing.  She has always said that as long as her children were honest, doing an honest days work, and treating others as they should be treated, she was proud and happy.  As a child you could not ask for more then that.  Oh by no means…. do not get me wrong, we (the children) have not always been Saints, but we paid the price and the penalty when we weren’t and learned the lessons of life. So, when cancer came up my Mom, as always, stood by me and was my cheerleader once again.

When I was going through my journey of cancer and drawing my emotions on the mirror in the form of hair, the cheerleader was the number one choice.  I mean after all I learned from the best.  And we all, no matter whether it be cancer, a new job, a new school, a race or whatever we might have in life that we are going through, at some point we  need a cheerleader! And that is why there is Peggy, to remind us that even if we do not have someone standing next to us, even if we feel alone or are trying to find our way….

WE need to cheer ourselves on!  WE can do it!  WE can be our own cheerleader, and teach others to be the same!

To take it one step further, when I wrote and directed the music video, Peggy was given to a little gal with cancer to show the true spirit of giving back.  The two adult women helped each other during their journey and the newly diagnosed survivor moved on after her treatment to help a child with her journey.  What better way to do that then with a cheerleader, to let the child know they are being cheered on.  And then I took just one small step further, and decided Peggy needed to lose her hair just like survivors do when they are going through chemo.  Ah alas we don’t feel alone, we have something there to relate to, to make us think, to help us to move on, giggle….this is when Peggy steps in.

This is the Peggy I wanted you to meet, you know her story, her reasons, and what she is about.  It makes you think.  But more importantly Peggy makes you think…..after all Peggy’s motto is:

Cheer Yourself On!!

When I was going through cancer, and when I was going to my chemo treatments, besides my Mom, I took a book with me.  I saw people with all types of things that made them feel better, a lucky bracelet, a stuffed animal, a pillow, whatever it took to help them make it through.  I took a book.  This book was called “Faith in the Valley, Lessons for Women”.  I pasted pictures of family and friends, good times, and quotes all in the inside.  Whether I looked at it or not, I took it with me, I would not go with out it, in my mind it was something that I needed, my good luck piece.  So hence, a huge understanding of why Peggy is so important.

This is her story, this is her journey and this is how I hope she will help others, just by knowing someone is cheering them on, whether it be a friend, a family member, yourself or a doll named Peggy….

You can do it, you can make it through!!
