Houston, Friends, and The Pink Firetruck

Our Booth in Houston

Our Booth in Houston

I just got back from Houston, where I spent two weeks with Vicki from DinkyBaby.com at the International Quilt Show and Festival.  We took “Peggy”, the Book, and all of Vicki’s beautiful dolls.  What a great trip it was!!

It was amazing!!  It was a huge event and went very well.  We met some amazing people, saw some sites, and worked hard at the show and event.

While in Houston, I was interviewed by FairField Fabrics!  It was fun.  FairField is a huge company, that also does a lot for cancer support and donations!

And to top that off, as if the trip was not good enough…we got to see, sign, and meet the Fireman of the Big Pink Firetruck!  What an exciting surprise!  The Big Pink Firetruck is run by Fireman David Graybill and travels the United States on the “Pink Heals” tour!  This Firetruck, pulling a big ribbon, tours the US meeting and supporting women with all types of cancer, to let them know men care, and care enough to wear pink!!

What a kind group of men, not  only are they strong enough to fight fires and save lives, but the are strong enough to wear pink while doing it and to say to the world, we support women, those we know and love and those we we know are fighting a tough battle and need our support!!  All this done from the kindness of their hearts, no money in it for them, they volunteer and spread the word of love, hope and support.

Check out their tour at PinkRibbonNews.com it is amazing what they are doing.  I got to sign the truck as a survivor and meet everyone including David Graybill who started this whole project.  Vicki also arranged for them to see one of her friends who is in Houston for treatment, so fire truck and all went to visit her as well.  But you can read more about that on my Traveling Book Blog.

All and all it was a great trip!  I feel very blessed to have been a part of all of it!
